While still attending the Lion King red carpet premiere in Hollywood, Beyoncé has given other people that can’t attend the premiere a gift. She has released a new song “Spirit,” which will be in the live-action remake.
Not only is Beyoncé starring as Nala in the film, but she is also executive producing a new soundtrack for the film. If “Spirit” is any indication of what Bey is giving us, then she’s really putting on her producer hat, and giving us something new to encompass the entire film.
“This is sonic cinema,” said Beyoncé in the press release statement. “This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat.”
The Lion King: The Gift album, and the movie, is set for release on July 19.
