Kelly Rowland Reminds People Who She Is With New Single, “Kelly”

After teasing her fans for a while, posting and deleting clips and social media posts, Kelly Rowland has finally released her first new single, “Kelly.”

Since her last album, “Talk A Good Game,” was released in 2013, fans have been wanting new music from Rowland. She graced us with “Dumb,” but has been doing a lot more outside of music for just herself. However, Rowland has just graced us with her new single, prior to her upcoming album.

Rowland first let fans know they the album is almost ready a few months ago., also addressing some personal issues with her former label, Sony. Rowland stated that that label told her she didn’t have worth. “and the terrible statement they made saying I was no longer … some bullshit … basically saying I had no more worth,” starts the except. “That was the hardest thing I think I ever went through, because I thought to myself, I sold so many records for you guys, with and without Destiny’s Child I sold records. Then I had a record (When Love Takes Over) with David Guetta that was number one in I don’t know how many countries and I was like, okay …”

So while her “Kelly” may be her first single, or pre-single, the song is certainly a reminder that Rowland has been a star, and successful in her own right. Talking her shit, “Kelly” gives us the fun and ratchet side of Rowland, at least musically.

“…Kelly got deals, Kelly got class, Kelly got ass/ Kelly got a man, Kelly pop tags/ Kelly got flicks, Kelly got whips, Kelly got drip/ Kelly got a stash/ Kelly got a house, big house on the hill, Kelly so blessed, big X, XO, Kelly ain’t, Kelly ain’t got no chill, Kelly don’t really give a fuck how you feel…”
