For months, fans have been asking Kimberly “K. Michelle” Pate for “The Rain,” and it’s finally here.
Sampling New Edition is something many artists can’t do, let alone a classic like “Can You Stand The Rain?” However, Pate isn’t like many artists. Her heart, personality, and determination shines through her music. She shared a message on Instagram, thanking Jimmy Jam& Terry Lewis for allowing her to sample the song. In the same post, she shared that this is the first single she’s picked for herself throughout her career.
With this being Pate’s first single she’s picked for herself, it holds a significant amount of weight for her, and her label. Although it’s a sample, and everyone knows the original, Pate still manages to make it her own. The video is set to debut later today.
“Tonight I’m feeling sexy/ I can make you overdose, make it over-flow, if you let me/ Like a river, my waterfalls’ll breakdown a levee/
You gone get soaked, so bring a raincoat/ When we finish you gone see a rainbow (Oh)/ Come swim in my waters like a sailboat, You just making love to me like Nemo/ Come sip on it, as I drip on it/ You gone have to change my name to H2O”
