Shortly following the release of “That Magic,” India.Arie has released the video for her latest song “What If,” and the name of her upcoming album.
Arie has always has positive Pro-Black messages throughout her self, from self-love to reflection, so “What If” is no exception. “What If” names drops important figures in Black History, past and present. Including powerful images in the video, mixed with the message of the song, Worthy is sure to be worth quite a few listens.
Seeing the lyrics is one thing, but hearing Arie sing them is another. The heart and soul she possesses is unmatched. The song poses questions throughout, but without comparisons. Questions that if you ask yourself, may be real earth shattering.
“What if Martin didn’t stand up/ What if Rosa didn’t sit down/ What if Malcolm didn’t man up/ Where would we be now/ What if Marley didn’t get up, stand up/ What if DuBois didn’t come to advance us/ And Mandela didn’t come to teach us/ Where would we be now
Arie’s upcoming album, Worthy, is set to be released February 15th, 2018. Pre-order her album here, and check out the video for “What If” below.
