Beyoncé Becomes First African-American Woman To Headline Coachella

On January 3rd, Coachella made its official announcement on who would be performing at the 2017 festival, headliners including Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and of course, Beyoncé.

At a festival, that has a good gender-mix audience, will witness a great moment in music. Not only is Beyoncé the first solo female performer to headline the festival, but she is the first African-American female at that. Since the beginning, of Coachella, there has only been ONE woman that has have headlined the star-studded festival. Before Beyoncé, Bjork headlined the festival in 2007 and once before that in 2002.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival, or just Coachella,  is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, located in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley, in the Colorado Desert that was started in 1999. Although the main stages are the: Coachella Stage, Gobi Tent, Mojave Tent, Outdoor Theatre, and Sahara Tent; a smaller Oasis Dome was used in 2006 and 2011, while a new Yuma stage was introduced in 2013.

The festival will take place from April 14th – April 16th & April 21st- April 23rd. Tickets are available now.
