ThankYouBus & bylameboy Release a Short Film Ahead of Their Debut EP ‘BusBoy’

Prior to the premiere of their joint EP BusBoy, ThankYouBus and bylameboy release a short film by the same name; giving a glimpse into the project.

Although currently based in Los Angeles, ThankYouBus, aka Terrence Strader, a multi-hyphenate creative from the Far-EastSide of Indianapolis, Indiana. Raised by his single mother, art immediately spoke to Bus as not only a getaway but a true way out.

Influenced by Erykah Badu, Common, Marvin Gaye, Solange, and more, he began songwriting as an outlet during his teenage years. However, his creativeness expanded during his college years when he picked up a camera.

“When I create, regardless of the format, I want people to feel the essence of the old school way, but with a fresh twist,” Bus said. “When it comes to music, it’s always about producing something timeless. I want my music to play in every era.”

Born and raised in a community just outside of Philadelphia, Sam Parker, known as bylameboy, was introduced to various music throughout his formative years. Leading to his first CD being a Jeezy album.

“I can remember days when my mom would play Britney Spears and then my grandfather would throw on the classics by Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles,” Parker said.

“And then I’d hop in the car with my dad and he’d be blasting Biggie. All the different genres in my life showed me the many possibilities that could come with making a career in the world of music.”

Parker moved to Los Angeles in 2016, where he progressed as a recording engineer. There, he got to work with various known and independent artists. The duo developed a friendship and began working on their upcoming EP, BusBoy. A combination of both their performance names.

“As a producer and not just a beatmaker, I like to throw something at an artist to see if it sticks, and then I’ll refine the sound around what they reciprocate,” Parker said. “Most of the time I know they have it in them, but it’s a 50/50 effort.”

BusBoy, the EP, will be released in late February. It’s a six-track project that has smooth and textured tracks, combined with futuristic beats and lucid flows.

“The goal of this project is to really show my versatility. Sammy challenged me with a few beats, and I wanted to execute,” Bus said.

“It’s quick but potent. I got a track with a side of gritty rap, one with a slight EDM/house vibe, and a few with airy/melodic tones that just coast with you. BUSBOY really does show my range as an artist. I’m proud of it.”
