Sevyn has written bangers for herself, as well as for other people. She has worked with Chris Brown, Jordin Sparks, Brandy, Tamar Braxton, Trey Songz, and many more. She has even opened for Beyoncé in the past. While you may be able to name seven of Sevyn’s own songs, here are seven songs you may not have known she had a hand in writing.
Tamar Braxton – “All the Way Home”
Written by Sevyn, Steve Russell, Terence Coles, Michael Daley, Damon Thomas and Harvey Mason Jr., “All the Way Home” ended up being one of the lead singles Braxton’s Love and War album. Sevyn has previously spoken on writing “All the Way Home,” and she also contributed to writing Braxton’s “Pieces.”
Fantasia – “End of Me”
“End of Me” is featured on Fantasia’s Side Effects of You album. Produced by Harmony Samuels, Fantasia, Samuels, Sevyn, and Al Sherrod Lambert helped write the brooding single.
Brandy – “Slower”
“Slower” is featured on Brandy’s Two Eleven album, which was released in 2012. It was written by Brandy, Sevyn, Chris Brown, Dave Taylor, and Breyon Prescott.
Kelly Rowland – “Gone”
“Gone” was released on Rowland’s Talk A Good Game album, released in 2013. The song samples a part of Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Tax,” while also using “Got ’Til It’s Gone” by Janet Jackson. The single was written by Rowland, Mitchell, Sevyn, Courtney Harrell, Harmony Samuels and Wiz Khalifa. Both Rowland, Streeter and EVE performed the song in 2013 for BET’s Black Girls Rock” award show.
Chris Brown – “Yeah 3x”
“Yeah 3x” is from Brown’s F.A.M.E. album, released in 2011. Brown, Sevyn, Calvin Harris, Kevin McCall, DJ Frank E had a hand in writing the single, according to Genius. The single peaked at number 15 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Estelle – “International (Serious)”
Estelle’s “International (Serious)” features Chris Brown and Trey Songz, and was produced by David Banner. The single is featured on Estelle’s 2012 All of Me album. The song was written by Estelle, Brown, Songz, Banner, and Sevyn.
Ariana Grande – “The Way”
Many people know this one, and many don’t. Sevyn was one of the co-writers for “The Way” by Ariana Grande, which features Mac Miller. It peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single was produced by Harmony Samuels and Sauce, and samples Brenda Russell’s “A Little Bit of Love” and Big Pun’s “Still Not a Player,” which features Fat Joe. “The Way” was written by Sevyn, Samuels, Jordin Sparks, Russell, Mac Miller, and Al Sherrod Lambert.
