Rebecca Ferguson Agrees To Perform At Trump’s Inauguration, Under One Condition

Rebecca Ferguson was a contestant on the X Factor UK version, the amazing talented singer was runner up in the 2010 run of the show, but has since had her own success and multiple albums.

It’s no secret Donald Trump has been having trouble finding people to willingly participate and sing in his inauguration, yet Ferguson has revealed that she had been asked to perform at Trump’s inauguration. She stated (below) that she would, but only if she could perform “Strange Fruit,” a song originally done by famous and iconic singer Billie Holiday, which depicts the lynchings of many African-Americans during the time, and in some ways, even today.

“I’ve been asked and this is my answer. If you allow me to sing “strange fruit” a song that has huge historical importance, a song that was blacklisted in the United States for being too controversial. A song that speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States. A song that is a reminder of how love is the only thing that will conquer all the hatred in this world, then I will graciously accept your invitation and see you in Washington. Best Rebecca X”

This would not be Ferguson’s first attempt at monumental songs for a time of change, on the X Factor, she performed Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.”

Only time will tell if Ferguson will be performing or not, but we will find out soon enough.
