With what’s been going on with R. Kelly through the docu-series, Lady Gaga has now issued her own statement of solidarity to the alleged victims of Kelly, and sexual assault survivors in general.

On Thursday, Lady Gaga issued a statement vowing to never work with R. Kelly again and to remove their song together from streaming services.

“I stand by anyone who has ever been the victim of sexual assault,” Lady Gaga wrote on Twitter accompanied by a statement that followed “Surviving R. Kelly,” a docuseries in which multiple women accused the R&B singer of a range of abuse including sexual misconduct.

After her statement, Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg, provided a statement to Access. Greenberg condemned Lady Gaga for coming out and expressing regret for working with Kelly early on in her career. He also stated Gaga was using this moment to benefit for herself, in hopes to win an Oscar.

“Mr. Kelly has not committed any crime. It is unfortunate the extent people want to put his past relationships under a microscope for their own personal gain. But no one complained when they were living the glamorous life as a rockstar groupie or girlfriend. There are no victims-there are only those now exploiting Mr. Kelly for their 15 minutes of TMZ fame,” Greenberg said.

“Mr. Kelly appreciates that she recognized his immense talent and collaborated with him to help her career, but finds it regrettable that she is now exploiting this controversy to try and help her in her effort to win an Oscar,” he added.
