The 2020 Soul Train Awards are still happening, and the Lady of Soul award this year goes to R&B icon, Monica. The announcement comes at a perfect time in Monica’s career. Monica is currently preparing for her first independent album, Trenches, and set the internet on fire earlier this year with her Verzuz battle with Brandy.

Previous Lady of Soul recipients include Brandy, Yolanda Adams, Faith Evans, Toni Braxton, and more. 2020 Soul Train Award nominees include Brandy, Beyoncé, Giveon, Victoria Monét, Chloe X Halle, Usher, Chris Brown, and more.

Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell Martin will return as hosts for the awards. View the full list of nominees here.

The 2020 Soul Train Awards take place Sunday, Nov. 29, and will air on BET with a simulcast on BET Her, VH1 and MTV2 at 8 PM EST with a one-hour pre-show beginning at 7 PM EST. The Soul Train Awards will be followed by the broadcast television debut of DJ Cassidy’s groundbreaking, virtual series Pass the Mic on BET.
