Monica Praises Both Aaliyah & Brandy While Performing (Video)

After the video of Brandy changing her iconic duet with Monica to “the song is mine,” instead of “The Boy Is Mine,” all eyes were on Monica for a response; which she never truly gave (except maybe a few instagram posts).

 

Monica performed last night in Houston recently, and instead of addressing the video or the lyric change, she chose to praise not only Aaliyah, but Brandy. In the following video, you can hear Monica giving praise to both before going into “For You I Will.”

“I wanna thank my sisters in music,” starts the video. “They started the same time that I did. How many of y’all love and adore the late great Aaliyah? She was just special, one in a million for sure. And I want y’all to make some noise for the woman; this is the only Grammy I’ve ever won in my whole life. The only time they called a little black girl from the country to the big stage was with this amazing person, Ms. Brandy Norwood… ”
