Mariah Carey Issues Audio Statement About Her New Year’s Eve Performance (Listen Here)

By now we’ve probably all seen Mariah Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance, which she hasn’t fully addressed herself. Carey took to twitter today to talk about the issue a little bit further before announcing she is taking a small break audio below).

” i haven’t really addressed the situation that happened on New Year’s Eve, but in time I will… It’s a shame we were put in the hands of a production team with technical issues which chose to capitalize on issues that were beyond our control…”

Her performances, which began with Carey singing “Auld Lang Syne,” indicates that her backing track didn’t match her vocals. By the time she launched into “Emotion,” it was clear something was wrong, and that Carey couldn’t hear the playback, According to Billboard, Carey “suffered from a tight and difficult rehearsal schedule earlier in the night was unable to hear through her in-ear monitor”, according to a source. “She didn’t have the kind of time that she usually gets for her ‘Mariah-ness.'”

It was an audio equipment malfunction. Carey could not hear herself — or possibly anything — in the on-stage monitors. At one point, Carey told the audience that she “didn’t have a sound check, for the performance and, that “it is what it is.”

After a visibly frustrated Carey told the audience that she was “trying to be a good sport,” she left the stage with one final, perfect proclamation: “It just don’t get any better.”

Although Carey tried to make light of the situation, it was clear how upset she was during her performances. It’s certainly one way to end 2016.
