On Friday, March 10th, Joni Sledge of the group Sister Sledge passed away in her home at the age of 60.
Joni, along with her sisters Debbie, Kim and Kathy, joined forces in 1971 to form Sister Sledge. Sister Sledge, famously known for their classic song, “We Are Family,” were set to go on tour later this year. According to The Associated Press, Biff Warren, publicist for the band best known for its 1979 hit “We Are Family,” said a friend found Sledge dead in her Phoenix home Friday. Her cause of death is not yet known.
The group shared a farewell message about their sister Saturday on Facebook to let the fans know.
“Important Announcement:

We thank you in advance for allowing us the privacy to mourn quietly as a family. We miss her and hurt for her presence, her radiance, and the sincerity with which she loved & embraced life.
We love you & God Bless You all.
