Jelani Maraj Found Guilty of All Child Rape Charges

The verdict is on the child rape case against Jelani Miraj, and he is found guilty. According to TMZ, Miraj was found guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child and endangering the welfare of a child on Thursday (Nov. 9) in Long Island, New York. Maraj will be sentenced on Dec. 14. He’s facing up to 38 years to life.

John Labau, 33, of Freeport, an alternate juror on the Maraj trial, who was relieved of his service Wednesday, said he would have acquitted the defendant because he said there wasn’t enough evidence for a conviction.

“I really do think he did something to her, but based on the evidence I just can’t convict him,” Labau, a custodian, said in an interview outside the Nassau County Court in Mineola.

Police said they found Maraj’s semen on the girl’s pajamas, but the defense claimed the girl and her mother planted the evidence. Maraj’s lawyer also claimed the mother and daughter tried to shake down Maraj and his high-profile sister for $25 million.

Madeline Singas tells TMZ … “We hope that today’s verdict will help the family in the healing process.” Maraj’s famous sister Nicki Minaj never testified in the court case.
