A Timeline Of What We Know So Far About The Alleged Remy Ma & Brittney Taylor Altercation

Remy Ma has not been one to back down from anyone, but she has also showed great growth in the last couple of years following her prison release. This, along with what fans see on Love and Hip-Hop New York is what led many people to be surprised about the allegations involving her and former cast-mate, Brittney Taylor.

April 17th, 2019 – Initial Claim

Taylor posted a video (now deleted) of her with a black eye, claiming it was Ma who gave it to her. In the caption, she stated the following: “So, here am I on my way to a very important meeting and it’s hard to even focus because of what occurred last night. I didn’t wanna bring it to social media because Its pretty embarrassing and not a good look tbh. I tried my best to cover it up with make up and move on but that still didn’t work. My Question is @remyma why did you really do this? #WHATHAPPENEDTOWOMANEMPOWERMENT #BlackLove? Smh”

April 19th, 2019 – Taylor Speaks

Taylor explained her side of the story. Taylor spoke with Daily News, explaining that the incident with Ma was a misunderstanding involving the rapper’s stepdaughter Dejanae. She claimed to have “defended” Ma’s stepdaughter from an abusive man who was beating her up while they were supposedly in Miami during spring break. The alleged altercation happened on April 16 around 9:30 p.m. at the Pretty Lou Charity Concert in New York City with rapper Fat Joe.

“What happened with me and Dej in Miami is I saved her—I saved her life, and [Remy] got aggressive [when Brittany told her at Irving],” Taylor stated regarding Smith.“She was like, ‘That’s not what I heard,’ and she punched me in the face.”

Taylor going to the authorities over this alleged incident came surprising to many. Not only because it involved Smith, but because going to the authorities goes against the persona Taylor displayed on reality television being “4’10” with the shits.”

Taylor is said to be cooperating with the authorities and her legal team. “I just don’t feel like it’s okay for people to put their hands on someone that’s not being malicious to them, that’s being genuine,” she said. “She’s supposed to be someone with the status and power that she can use for good or bad. … She shouldn’t be punching someone — punching someone so hard in the face to the point that here we are four days later and my eye’s only getting worse. It really hurts.”

May 1st, 2019 – Remy Turns Herself In

Ma was arrested following the assault charges by Taylor. She turned herself in to the 13th Precinct station house in Manhattan. According to PageSix, “she was charged with third-degree assault during a Wednesday evening arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.”

Ma still denies all of Taylor’s accusation, claiming that she was home at Taylor’s original 9:30 pm time claim, and has video proof the she was not there at the time. Ma’s lawyer, Dawn Florio, stated that “the complainant is a liar. My client did not touch her. “This is clout chasing at the highest level.”

May 24th, 2019 – Remy Faces More Charges, Timeframe changes

Ma was reportedly hit with 4 more charges. According to The Blast, the charges were two counts of assault in the third degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and one count of harassment in the second degree. All of which are misdemeanors. “No one looks forward to going to trial. I have things to do with my life. I have a real job, I have a family, I have a husband, I have a daughter,” stated Ma.

According to New York Daily News, Taylor and her legal time changed the initial time of the alleged assault from 9:30pm to 10:30 pm. Now, the time has been changed which would reportedly place Smith at the venue during the time. Whereas initially, Ma was not there at 9:30.There’s no telling how this will impact Smith and the trial. According to Bronx News 12, Ma was offered a plea deal, but will not take it according to her lawyer. The trial is set to begin July 12.

Ma is currently still on probation following being released from prison in 2014, after shooting a former friend in the stomach by accident during an altercation.
