Vic Mensa Created An Anti-Bait Truck To Give Away Shoes in Response To A Chicago Police Set Up

With the help of his SaveMoneySafeLife Foundation, Vic Mensa gave away thousands of free shoes in the Chicago neighborhood of Englewood.

The Chicago police created a bait truck full of name-brand shoes, and placed the truck in the Chicago Englewood area to lure underprivileged men, women, and children of color that might try to take them right before school began in a sting operation. Susan Terpay, a spokeswoman for the Norfolk Southern Railroad police, spoke on the bait truck from the cops in an email. “The suspects saw a parked, unmarked trailer and then proceeded to cut open the safety seal with box cutters, broke into the back of the trailer and only then did they find retail shoes in unmarked brown boxes, previously secured and hidden inside.”

Mensa created an “Anti-Bait Truck” shoe event  on August 26th in the same location that the original bait truck happened. Mensa has always spoken on issues in the black community, and wanting to uplift us as a whole, so the anti-bait truck is not surprising. Mensa, being from Chicago himself, definitely had a home connection. Mensa issued the following public statement below.

“The @savemoneysavelife Anti-Bait Truck on Sunday was radical love in action. Englewood is Still Alive & Chicago is Still Alive. We are all we need. We gave out close to 7,000 pairs of shoes. The look on kids faces as they opened brand new boxes of Jordan’s, Steph Curry’s, Reebok’s Nike’s Adidas etc was priceless. It is so much more powerful to invest in the people than it is to bait and trap them like animals. So much thanks to the entire team who made this happen and everyone worldwide who donated these sneakers to the families that need them the most.”
