Ty Dolla $ign gets ready for a new album, and delivers a new R&B single with J. Cole, giving us an old school vibe with new school feels with “Purple Emoji” (and not the eggplant).

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Ty revealed that this single wasn’t planned. Ty says he was in New York City, supposedly working on music, while Cole happened to be working on music next door.

“When I saw him I was like, ‘bro, I got something to play you,’ and he’s like, ‘I got something to play to you.’ So I went to his studio and heard everything he was working on and then I’m like, ‘yo, I just did this one I thought would be crazy for both of us,’ so he came in my room. I played it for him immediately and he did his verse in five minutes … It’s not often you can meet an artist that prolific, that big in the game, that will just be like, ‘alright let’s do it right now, what’s up? Where the mic at?’”

Giving us a smooth, cool vibe, Ty and Cole compliment each other well. While less than 3 minutes, the song is definitely a cool summer bop, on the late night card rides with the sun down. Check out the song below.
