“People always ask me, ‘Trevor, how do you laugh when the news is sad, how do you find the jokes?’ It’s not that I find things funny, it’s just my mind uses it as a tool to protect me from the pain”
Host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah is making a name for himself, after Jon Stewart decided to part from the show, Noah had big comedic and political shoes to fill, and he’s doing a great job. On Wednesday night’s “Daily Show,” Noah talked about the murder of Terence Crutcher, by officer Betty Shelby, who has since been charged with manslaughter. One line he says has just resonated with me, “It seems extremely easy to get shot by police in America,” he said. “Which is not right.”
Unfortunately, his statement is very valid. Noah has been known to say what is on his mind, regardless of opinions, which is what makes him a great host while using comedy. Noah then went on to describe the situation, from watching the video, and criticizing the commentary from the police chopper recording the video. Addressing the fact the recorders said “Oh, that looks like a bad dude too” and “He’s not following commands,” but from the air you can only see that he’s black with his hands in the hand. How exactly is Crutcher a bad man and not following directions? Noah went on to share his thoughts and feelings n the situation at hand without disrespecting, name-calling (like Tomi Lahren), and more. Noah went on to say something very true, which you can watch below.
“If the only time you encounter black people in policing crime, then the only experience of black people is that they’re criminals.
