This appears to be the year for Tinashe to get back to herself. She has dropped two new independent singles, “Die a Little Bit” featuring Ms. Banks, and “Touch & Go” with 6lack.
Tinashe parted ways with her former record label RCA earlier this year, and her music career has been kind of in limbo for awhile. But she’s back, and has officially signed a management deal with Roc Nation according to Billboard.
Earlier this year, after a small social media break, Tinashe returned with. video to update fans on where she has been. She reassured people she was okay, and that she was working on new music.
“Throughout the last year, and a little bit more, I’ve been going through a lot of changes,” she explained in a video on Twitter. “Creatively, I just feel like I needed to go through what I went through in order to be the person that I am today and to get back to my roots… You pretty much put your heart and soul and emotions into all these songs and then you put them out there for the world to judge and tear down and pick apart. It’s terrifying and it can really mess with your head. Fuck the system…”
The Roc Nation management deal comes after Tinashe previously tried to go around answering the question, stating “rumors are rumors.” Although she is signed under Roc Nation for management, her last two songs have been released through Tinashe Music Inc.
