With the success of the New Edition biopic series, it seems biopics may be the new trend… When they’re done right. The once rumored Jodeci biopic is slated to debut on VH1 later this year according to Jodeci member Mr. Dalvin.
Jodeci was a force with R&B in the 90’s, and helped set the ton for future generations with their debut album, “Forever My Lady.” The group also saw success with the singles, “Come and Talk to Me,” “Stay” and “Forever My Lady.”
If you don’t know, Jodeci consists of DeVante Swing, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci and JoJo. The group released 3 successful R&B albums before problems caused the group to split. K-Ci & JoJo found much success as a duo while Swing and Dalvin unfortunately kind if faded away after lukewarm success of solo careers. The group however reunited for their 2015 album, “he Past, The Present, The Future.”
Mr. Dalvin confirmed that a film is “in the works,” during a recent interview that he posted on Instagram. Stating that VH1 currently own the rights to the productiuon.
“Yes the #jodecibiopic is coming!!!!! For all the casting inquiries, they will be announced soon,” he wrote on Saturday (Feb. 4). “Thanks for the love and support.”
According to Dalvin, the script is already done and filming will begin next month. “We’re looking at a end of the year release,” he added.
