According to a “well-placed source” from Yahoo! Sports reporter Kevin Iole, the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight will take place Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, the date approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for an event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. McGregor himself confirmed.
The Nevada Athletic Commission on Wednesday approved the request from Mayweather Promotions to put on a boxing card on Aug. 26 at the MGM Grand.
Mayweather, 40, retired from boxing in Sept. 2015 after defeating Andre Berto and moving to 49-0 in his professional fighting career. However, he continued to hint at a possible return to the ring and told FightHype.com in May 2016 that he was considering a bout against an MMA fighter. McGregor is 21-3 in his professional fighting career (9-1 in the UFC).
Rumors have been circulating for months that the alleged fight would happen during the month of July, but august isn’t that far away either. Mayweather finally spoke aloud that he was ready to fight McGregor a few months ago.
McGregor himself posted “The Fight Is On” not too long ago on Instagram (seen below).
