“That Rihanna Reign just won’t let up” is a phrase that continues to be proven true every time.
Good Girl Gone Bad was the album that cemented Rihanna’s name in the pop record books in 2007, and it’s an album that continues to give.
The album track, “Breakin’ Dishes,” began trending on TikTok a few times over the year, and the trend expanded across all social media platforms, prompting users to either reminisce, participate in the trend, or listen to the album in full for the first time with the song.
“Breakin’ Dishes” has re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 86 — its first appearance on the chart since the album’s release 18 years ago. The track marks Rihanna’s 64th entry on the Hot 100.
Singles from the original Good Girl Gone Bad album reached the Top 5, Top 10, and Top 20, with the project producing multiple Billboard No. 1 hits, including “Umbrella” from the original release, and “Take a Bow” and “Disturbia” from Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded.
According to Chart Data, the album has returned to the top 100 of the Billboard album chart.
In 2023, “Sure Thing” by Miguel set forth a similar path when the single gained a resurgence on TikTok a decade after its initial release.
