#NewMusic: K. Michelle Pours Up ‘Jack Daniel’s’ as First Taste of Her Country Album

K. Michelle has been carving her path in Country music for years, even while dominating the R&B world. Now, the timing feels right as she fully steps into the genre with her first official single, “Jack Daniel’s.”

Kimberly “K. Michelle” Pate, aka Puddin, first teased the song in 2024, sparking excitement among her loyal fan base. In just 3 minutes and 30 seconds, she crafts a love letter to her “best friend,” Jack Daniel’s.

Her connection to the iconic whiskey brand runs deep. In 2017, she made history as the first African American artist to be endorsed by Jack Daniel’s, even collaborating on her own signature drink, “Southern Peach.”

“This is me coming home,” K. Michelle said in a statement. “Country is in my blood. I was raised on southern soil in Memphis, Tennessee, where soul and country grew from the same roots. This new music is a celebration of where I come from — the pride, the bittersweet and the whiskey-soaked truth of it all. “

On the single, produced by Kristian Bush (Megan Moroney, Sugarland) and Jeff Balding, K. Michelle blurs the line between spirit and romance, likening the whiskey to a man, her man, Jack Daniel’s.

“‘Cause I’ve been let down like a bottle just collecting dust, and there’s something that hits a little different when it comes to us / He keeps me warm, I keep him close, hunting me down and now I know/ Jack Daniel’s, I’ll be damn if he ain’t the only man I trust”

The single is released on Real Outlawz Records, an imprint by K. Michelle under BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. While details of the album are under wraps, the long-awaited Country album by Puddin is underway.

K. Michelle honored The Judds in 2023 with a performance of “Love Can Build a Bridge” alongside Jelly Roll and the Fisk Jubilee Singers. She later performed at the 57th Annual CMA Awards.
