In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center (TMAC) will host activist and author Tamika D. Mallory as part of her nationwide tour for “I Lived to Tell the Story: A Memoir of Love, Legacy, and Resilience.”
Hosted by Dr. Alvin C. Hathaway, Sr., President of the Beloved Community Services Corporation, this event will feature a discussion on Mallory’s activism, her memoir, and the ongoing fight for justice.
As a leading voice in civil rights, Mallory will share insights on organizing protests, advocating for policy change, and fostering unity in marginalized communities.
In “I Lived to Tell the Story: A Memoir of Love, Legacy, and Resilience,” Mallory takes readers beyond the headlines, offering an unfiltered look at the personal struggles that shaped her. From growing up as the daughter of civil rights organizers in Harlem to battling the trauma of sexual assault, the pressures of motherhood, and the scrutiny of public life, she shares an intimate perspective on resilience and self-discovery. It serves as a follow-up to her critically acclaimed “State of Emergency.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a meaningful conversation about the impact of activism and civic engagement, honoring the legacy of Justice Thurgood Marshall.
