At the 52nd NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, rising chef, actress, and TikTok star Tabitha Brown became the inaugural winner for Outstanding Social Media Personality. Brown rose to success by being authentically herself with herself, her family, and her vegan cooking.
We asked Brown what has been the most life-changing aspect of her life with the recent fame and success, and she shared that going to the grocery store has changed the most.
“Crazy enough, you know I don’t see myself as other people see me,” Brown said. “I can’t go to the grocery store like I used to. I get stopped every time I go in there. People be like ‘girl, what should I get?’ That has really, literally been a big change for me. I just be going about my business like regular. I’m slowly learning that everybody knows who you is, but I embrace it. I love it. If it wasn’t for COVID, I’d be hugging people in the grocery store.”
