Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons Trade Words on Social Media After Recent Interview

Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee Simmons recently exchanged words on social media, with the public back-and-forth seemingly tied to their past relationship and Kimora’s new television project.

On Dec. 11, PEOPLE published an interview with Kimora Lee Simmons accompanied by a graphic featuring a quote attributed to her. The graphic read: “Kimora Lee Simmons Says She Doesn’t ‘Have A Relationship’ with Her Kid’s Fathers, ‘Guys Are Weird.’”

In response, Russell Simmons addressed the quote on Threads, writing:

“I gave u 50,000 a month for 20 years. I was ur best / only friend. I’m the godfather to your other 3 kids, until one day you stole my stock. I have been fighting for my kids love and my bread ever since. You threatened that if I sued you, I would never speak to my kids again. There are two sides to every story.”

Kimora Lee Simmons is the mother of five children: daughters Ming Lee and Aoki Lee with her former husband Russell Simmons; son Kenzo Lee with actor Djimon Hounsou; son Wolfe Lee with Tim Leissner; and adopted son Gary Lee.

She later responded via her Instagram Story, writing:

“My ‘girls’ are GROWN WOMEN! You know these are lies. Why are you typing from thousands of miles away in a non-extradition country? Go negotiate and answer your accusers.”

Russell Simmons currently lives in Bali.

He has faced multiple allegations of sexual assault beginning in 2017, when Drew Dixon, a former Def Jam executive, publicly accused him of misconduct. Two more women also came forward with allegations in 2017, and since then, more than 15 women have come forward with similar accusations.

According to Rolling Stone, Simmons has reportedly settled with five accusers.

He has denied wrongdoing.

Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee Simmons were married from 1998 to 2009. They reportedly met in 1992, when Kimora Lee was working during New York Fashion Week while still in high school.
