Mariah Carey has Carey-ed her record-breaking career to a new level.
The legendary singer-songwriter has earned her third Diamond-certified album with Merry Christmas, which has sold 10 million copies since its 1994 release, joining Music Box and Daydream.
She now ties Whitney Houston and Shania Twain as the female artists with the most Diamond-certified albums in U.S. history.
The album is bolstered by Carey’s perennial Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which, as of this week, has helped her reclaim a record she originally set nearly three decades ago.
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” has propelled Carey back to the top of the chart history books, earning her the record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a total of 20 weeks.
Carey’s 1995 collaboration with Boyz II Men, “One Sweet Day,” first made history by spending 16 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. That record stood until 2019, when Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” surpassed it with 19 weeks at No. 1. Shaboozey later tied that mark in 2025 with “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” previously tied Carey’s original record in 2017.
