Retta Faces Her Fears in New HGTV Series ‘Scariest House in America’

Retta, beloved comedian, actress, and home design enthusiast, is switching gears stepping from the realm of the hit HGTV series “Ugliest House in America” into a new realm of fright with her upcoming show, “Scariest House in America.”

Retta reacts to the prison cells at the Jail-Bat home, as seen on Scariest House in America, Season 1.

In “Scariest House in America,” Retta will swap her previous focus on unsightly homes for a deep dive into the eerie and unsettling.

Throughout the series, she’ll tour nine terrifying properties, ranging from a former jail overrun by bats to an alleged mobster hideout and a decaying house with witchy vibes.

The show will take viewers on a spooky road trip through the Midwest, Northeast, and South, featuring homes that come complete with built-in death traps, questionable taxidermy, foreboding basements, and reported ghost sightings.

Known for her unfiltered observations, Retta will share her thoughts on each home’s menacing appearance, questionable functionality, and overall fright factor.

“I did not see this iteration of this show coming,” Retta admits. “I was cool with the summer road trip and ugly in paradise, but, for a gal that is spooked by every creak, critter, and errant hair that brushes my shoulder, this wasn’t it. Glad I got through it, but I won’t lie and say I ‘enjoyed’ it.”

The stakes are high as HGTV will crown one home as the “scariest” of them all. The winning homeowners will receive a $150,000 renovation courtesy of popular network designer Alison Victoria, promising a transformation that could turn their haunted residence into a more hospitable abode.

Retta confronts her fears in “Scariest House in America.” Fnd out which haunted house will win the top spot—and a significant renovation prize—on Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. EST.
