96.3 WHUR is set to usher in a new era for its beloved “Original Quiet Storm” as Grammy Award-winning artist and DMV native Raheem DeVaughn takes the helm as the new host.
Listeners can tune in on weekdays from 7:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. for an enchanting and fulfilling evening with DeVaughn.
The “Original Quiet Storm” has been a cornerstone of the station since 1976, captivating audiences with its soothing playlists and heartfelt connections across the DMV area and Baltimore. Originally popularized by the late Melvin Lindsey, the program has become synonymous with intimate music experiences, guiding listeners through the night with its signature blend of R&B and soulful tracks.
“We are thrilled to launch this new chapter of the ‘Original Quiet Storm’ with one of the most talented creative artists in R&B, proudly representing Washington,” Al Payne, Senior Director of Programming for WHUR, said expressing his enthusiasm.
DeVaughn’s appointment not only honors the legacy of the show but also brings a fresh, engaging voice to the airwaves. He is no stranger to broadcasting; he has been hosting his own self-titled podcast since 2012, showcasing his ability to connect with audiences in a personal and authentic manner.
