Rightfully so, Missy Elliott now has a petition circling around her to get a confederate moment replaced for a statue in her honor.
“Missy is all of us” and represents “everything the Confederacy was not.” – Nathan Coflin, Petition Creator
The confederate statue in located in Elliott’s hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia. The petition is now at 11,031 signatures out of its initial goal of 15,000. The petition reads as, “We believe it is time to finally replace the Confederate Monument in Olde Towne Portsmouth Virginia near the intersection of Court and High streets with a new statue of a true Portsmouth native hero.
