“Queen Sugar” will air tonight September 6th, at 10pm on Oprah’s OWN network. They both created the show, but the show is based off of The series is based on the novel by Natalie Baszile. “Queen Sugar” tells the story of the estranged Bordelon siblings in Louisiana. The siblings Nova, a journalist and activist, and Charley, the wife and manager of an NBA player have inherited their late father’s sugar-cane farm and must overcome internal and external challenges to build a legacy. Following a tragedy in the family, the siblings must put their complicated lives aside so that they can come together to run the clan’s struggling 800-acre sugar cane farm.
