Last Year, Bobbi Kristina’s estate filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Gordon, which he has been dealing with. Now if you have a case on your head, and you’re innocent; you would go to clear your name.

Gordon however didn’t go. Gordon failed to show up twice in court to defend himself, on top of that he was his own lawyer. A Georgia judged ruled Friday, September 16th, 2016, that Gordon was legally responsible for Bobbi Kristina’s death after failing to show up in court. Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford said because Gordon has failed to appear twice, anything alleged by the plaintiff is admitted through omission.

The lawsuit claims Gordon beat Bobbi Kristina after an argument in their shared Atlanta home on the morning of January 31, then gave her a “toxic cocktail” to knock her out. It then accuses him of placing her face-down in a bathtub of cold water, causing her to suffer brain damage. An autopsy in March revealed her cause of death was due to drug intoxication and immersion in water, although they could not determine whether her death was “due to intentional or accidental causes.

A jury will determine the amount of damages to be awarded to Brown’s conservator. The lawsuit sought $50 million in damages.

Bobbi Kristina’s father Bobby Brown shared his thoughts on the ruling with people magazine.

“I am pleased with the outcome of today’s court proceedings,” he told people magazine in a statement. “All I ever wanted was answers relating to who and what caused my daughter’s death. Today’s judgment tells me it was Nick Gordon. Now I need to process all the emotions I have and lean on God to get me and my family through this.”
