#NewVideo: Ahead of Debut Album, J. Brown Switches His Style on ‘Simpin”

R&B artist and Detroit native J. Brown returns with his new single “Simpin’,” fresh off joining Sono Recording Group (SRG/ILS) (UMG) in January, and ahead of his debut album.

While Brown is no stranger to uptempo songs, the style of “Simpin'” is different. The music video was directed by Haitianev.

“I fell in love with this track the moment I heard it,” J. Brown said. “The thought of telling your lady or man that you miss them in a somewhat slang kind of word would make them chuckle and make them miss you too, and it reminds you that missing someone is the same in any language.”

J. Brown’s “Simpin'” was written by written and produced by Jake Krumm and Jared Krumm. It’s a track one would hear on the radio, but with a more positive connotation than what the word is used for across social media, and is aligned with what he hopes to accomplish with his music’s messaging.

“I want to bring back music that will ultimately make people fall back in love,” J. Brown said with his new sound. “I want to take fans to a musical realm where love is light and fun. I want people to say, ‘This guy has music that is not only good but timeless.'”

“Simpin'” is the first single from J. Brown’s debut album, Chapter & Verse, which is set to be released on May 20.
