“The Fire Inside” is the inspirational true story of Olympic gold medalist, Claressa Shields, portrayed by Ryan Destiny.
“The Fire Inside” tells the story of Shields, a high school Junior from Flint, Michigan, aided by her tough-love coach, Jason Crutchfield (Brian Tyree Henry), who pushes past all limitations to become the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing.
Despite being at the pinnacle of success, Claressa has to reckon handle the fact that not all dreams are created equal, and the real fight has only just begun.
Shields won gold medals in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, making her the first American boxer—male or female—to win consecutive Olympic gold medals.
Shields has credited boxing with saving her life amid her rough upbringing.
“The Fire Inside” was directed by Rachel Morrison and written by Barry Jenkins. The film received a standing ovation at Toronto International Film Festival and debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with a ”100%” critics rating.
