Living Legend Toni Braxton is back with her new song “Deadwood” from her upcoming album, “Sex & Cigarettes.”
Truthfully, it took me three listens to go from “blah” to, “well okay now Toni.” “Deadwood” comes off as a mix of alternative mixed with R&B. Braxton’s tone and register has not changed, giving us true Toni Braxton style, but it is a little different. “Deadwood” is more than just a piece of a dead tree, it is also defined as “people or things that are no longer useful or productive,” which means the lyrics fit perfectly.
