New Jersey native and rising artist Jay Watts is readying the release of his debut EP Antidote, and is giving fans a state with his latest single “Steps,” which follows his previous single “Numb.”
The self-professed “King of Ratchet Pop” has confidently taken his time creating a premiere set that more than delivers on audience curiosity.
Written by Watts and produced by Pio,”‘Steps’ was inspired by me listening to a few records from the 70’s and I simply wanted to bring that call-to-action type of vibe back into today’s music space,” Watts said. “It’s a familiar vibe that we all can relate to.”
Watts has been coming into his own in the music industry over the last several years and his hard work has paid off. His success includes his beat-ballad flow of popularly streamed, hip-hop love story-like “Single Friends,” that mainstream-tinged head-bopping “My Dreams,” or the low-key anthemic pop-rock sheen of his Power Rangers soundtrack standout “Watch Me Walk.”
“My approach to the music is genuine,” Watts said. “This is simply me and my personality and I’m not trying to fit in or follow. When all is said and done, I just want to be one of the greatest entertainers of all time.”
