The Universal Hip-Hop Museum is on the way, and set to become bigger and better. With Kurtis Blow and Ice-T, and Chuck D serving on the board of directors, it’ll be done right.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a $3.5 million grant will be given to the museum. The grant will help build, and create a bigger and more in-depth celebration of Hip-Hop. The museum is currently under construction.
“The museum is part of the renaissance of the Bronx,” said museum director, Rocky Bucano. “The Bronx is coming back. But the museum will be of the people and for the people.”
There is currently a temporary museum at 610 Exterior St. in Bronx Terminal Market. The $80 million Universal Hip Hop Museum is scheduled to open in the South Bronx in 2023. According to the New York post, the museum will be in Bronx Point, taking up 50,000 square feet.
