In 1979, James Baldwin wrote a letter to his literary agent describing his next project, “Remember This House.” “Remember This House” is an unfinished revolutionary, personal account of the lives and successive assassinations of three of his close friends—Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.

“If any white man in the world says ‘Give Me liberty Or Give Me Death,’ the entire white world applauds. When a black man says EXACTLY the same thing; he is judged a criminal, and treated like one, and everything is possibly done to make an example of this bad nigger so there wont be anymore like him.” – James Baldwin

At the time of Baldwin’s death in 1987, he left behind only thirty completed pages of this manuscript. His publishing company tried to sue his state for the money that had already given him, the lawsuit was dropped later in 1990. Baldwin passed away in 1987 due to stomach cancer.
Filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book Baldwin never finished.
