Mya Speaks on Viral Wedding Dress Photo: ‘I Actually Did Marry Myself in Real Life’

In February of 2020, a viral photo of Mya in a wedding dress gained attention, but TMZ reporting that Mya secretly got married added massive traction and attention. Now, Mya talks about the photo and her new “marriage.”

The wedding dress photo was from her music video for “The Truth,” released shortly after the viral photo. Mya spoke with Claudia Jordan on Out Loud with Claudia Joran on Fox Soul, and really addressed the song and self-love.

“I did a music video where I married myself, and the internet went crazy when a wedding photo was leaked first. I just went along with it because I actually did marry myself in real life at the end of 2013. It was all about self-care, self-love, getting back myself from a toxic relationship and last year, I renewed my vowels stepping into a New Year.”

“It dropped on Valentine’s Day where most people expect you to have a boo and show all these pictures on social media, and want to know who you’re boo’ed up with, but that’s not what it was for me. It was also art and people had their own interpretations, but that’s what it was for me.”
