If the name Cassandra Kubinski sounds familiar, and it should, then you may have heard her music before on the hit show “Dance Moms.” Kubinski is a Pop-singer, song-writer that has been working hard to establish herself in this industry, Kubinski has performed alongside The Goo Goo Dolls, 10,000 Maniacs, Anna Nalick, Nelson, and Dickie Betts, and on college stages at Buffalo State University, UCONN, URI, and Nichols. She also serves on the Board of Women in Music.
Kubinski has been working hard these past couple of years, and it shows in her musical growth. Her EP “Onward” is a personal piece of art for her,it fuses her emotionally raw lyrics with dancing piano melodies that weave an uplifting, introspective tapestry of life experience.
“This EP took a while to manifest,” said Kubinski. “All of these songs are directly from my experience as a 20-something grappling with love, growing up, and forging my own path despite the million messages the world tries to force on you about who you should be and what love and life should look like.”
“Onward” leads the listener towards an organic exploration of themselves and the world at large that is refreshing in our often candy-coated pop culture. Amidst themes of hope, love, growth, and sometimes regret, she forges her own path while challenging a society that often forces us to be someone we’re not.
The 6-song EP dances with sparkling piano melodies, nature and travel metaphors, and the fusion of both acoustic/organic and layered synthetic musical elements crafted at Whitewater Studios (where Beyonce, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, John Mayer, Kelly Clarkson, Meghan Trainor, Norah Jones, and more have worked).Kubinski has also collaborated with Chris Botti, who features is featured on her 2012 album “Just Being Myself” on the lush, romantic Paris-inspired number “Je T’aime,” and with Billy Joel, her main songwriting inspiration.
“Cassandra Kubinski is a rarity. She’s a talented singer/songwriter working in a tradition very similar to the legendary solo artists of the early to mid 1970′s. She proves that the art form is not only alive and well, but that it is still capable of being transcendent.” – Billy Joel
Kubinski blends pop and theatrical musical stylings with a heartfelt approach to lyrics: telling stories, digging into love, regret, and healing, and adding a twist of wry humor. Her last single release was Autism anthem “Not So Different”. The track garnered online traction and spurred a collaboration with the Goo Goo Dolls and Mary Ramsey of 10,000 Maniacs. Both bands lent their talents to a new recording, which is available as “Not So Different” by Ladies First feat. John Rzeznik on all digital music retailers.
Along with “Dance Moms” (11 song placements and millions of Youtube views: currently 951,094 views of dance “Drizzle” (song “Echoes”), Kubinski has also been featured on ABC, NBC, Bravo, and MTV. You’ve also her voice on commercials for Snickers (Brady Bunch Super Bowl 2015 spot), Plenti, Homegoods, Kohls, Maybelline, and more, as she moonlights as a voice actress.
