From calling out Netflix for color and gender bias in 2018 with their initial offer for Mo’Nique’s comedy special to being vindicated, the icon’s “My Name Is Mo’Nique” special has officially hit the streaming service.
In 2019, Mo’Nique spoke with InquisitiveCarter.com and said that there was more to the story after originally boycotting Netflix, along with issues within those years dealing with her being blackballed.
A few years later, Mo’Nique’s show, “The Parkers,” came to Netflix, which signaled a good sign for a possible reconciliation between the comedian and the streaming service.
Mo’Nique recorded her special last October in Atlanta to a sold-out crowd. She shared messages of gratitude on social media.
“HEY MY SWEET BABIES. I CAN NOT EXPLAIN THE FEELING IN THIS MOMENT, STANDING ON THIS STAGE!!!!
IT’S TIME. I LOVE US 4REAL & 4ALWAYS❤️❤️❤️,” she wrote.
“My Name is Mo’Nique” is available on Netflix.
