Mo’Nique is on her way to Vegas, despite the few setbacks she has faced in the industry.
Mo’Nique announced on her Instagram that she will be starting a residency at the SLS Hotel in Las Vegas in January 2019. “Getting ready for my residency in Las Vegas at SLS hotel. Starting January 11th, 2019,” during a video of a photo shoot for the residency.
Earlier this year, Mo’Nique asked for people to boycott Netflix for gender and racial bias. To which, she received a lot of backlash, continuing from the backlash from situations with Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry, and Oprah.
“I couldn’t accept that low offer, because if I did … I couldn’t sleep at night,” she said back in January. “If I accepted $500,000, what does Tiffany Haddish have coming? If I accept that, what does the black female comedian have coming? Because what they’ll say is, ‘Mo’Nique accepted this and she’s got that.’ So what do they have coming?”
Fighting for a while, things are working for Mo’Nique, instead of against her. Fighting for what she wants, and feels she is owed, Mo’Nique is expanding her career and legacy. Today, the comedian legend has shared more details about the event with her caption.
