Michelle Williams just left The Masked Singer, and people were praising her left and right. Black twitter knew immediately that the butterfly was The Bridge herself. However, she made one particular statement while leaving the show.

Upon leaving, Williams spoke will Billboard about her journey in music and life. “I’ve done a lot of gospel, so I’m kind of insecure because mainstream [fans] don’t know my voice,” Williams stated. “And sometimes social media… it’s bad when you read the comments…sometimes before you get to the nice ones you have to get through a couple mean ones…”

In 2014, “#PoorMichelle” became a trending topic on Twitter, making fun of the singer. This has been used since then when talking about the entertainer on social media. “Apparently I don’t have the most commercially appealing voice or whatever,” she continued with Billboard. “People have their favorites, but vocally I was not a favorite in the group, and that stuck with me.”

Well, Williams visited the real, and cleared up what she meant, and how the jokes and memes impacted her mentally, but not her pockets.

“I’m just aware… It didn’t stick with me, just sometimes you’re aware you’re not everybody’s favorite. That’s okay, I still got paid. I’m just saying, I’m aware but I didn’t lose sleep. That was not contributing to any sadness of mine. I’m just aware.”
