Mariah Carey, the queen of Christmas, has just announced she is turning her classic Christmas song into an animated movie coming out this year.
The song “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” released by Carey in 1994, makes an annual appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (peaking at No. 11 in 2015) and repeatedly tops the Billboard Holiday chart.
“There are traditions we can’t live without. The tree, the stockings, the presents, and Mariah Carey,” as you see in the trailer teaser below.
The film will be directed by Guy Vasilovich from a script by Temple Mathews, while Carey narrates. Henry Winkler, Lacey Chabert, Breanna Yde, Phil Morris, Laya Hayes and Keiko Agena will be voicing some of the cast of the future animated movie due later this year.
The film sees Yde voicing a young Mariah who sees a darling puppy named Princess at the pet store and suddenly knows exactly what she wants for Christmas. But she must prove that she can pet-sit Jack, a scraggly rascal of a dog who turns Mariah and her family’s holiday preparations upside down. The movie’s plot expands on that of Carey’s 2015 children’s book of the same name, which has sold over 750,000 copies.
