From a video from a Lil’ Wayne show at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, it looks like he’s officially signed to Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s label.
In the video (below) posted by @Cameron_Waters22, Wayne tells the crowd about the new deal. “Is it cool if I just say it? It’s the Roc,” Wayne said. “You know I’m a member of that team now.” This will be the first time the longtime Cash Money Records artist will move to another label for the first time in his career. Back in 2015, the rapper announced that he had signed a “deal” with Jay Z, leading to talks that it was a label deal, but it ended up being a business partnership with Hov’s company TIDAL where he now owns a stake as an artist owner.
If Wayne really signed to Jay’s label, he will have just taken things to whole different level. Only time will tell, but the deal would definitely be a blow to Birdman and his future endevors.
