Letoya Luckett Is “Back 2 Life” With New Music & A Movie After Her Divorce

Letoya Luckett is back on the music scene after a long hiatus.

The former Destiny’s Child member released her new song “Back 2 Life” on December 8th, and she delivered. It’s clear that she’s expressing her life after marriage and how she is getting “back to life, back to reality.” She sampled Soul II Soul’s classic “Back To Life (However Do You Want It).

“Maybe we’ll survive,” she sings over an airy trap-inspired instrumental. “Maybe it’s a lie / To keep our love alive / But I know you want to ride / So, I gotta get back to life / Back to reality.”

Although she doesn’t exactly state that it is about her ex-husband, they did recently get a divorce after 2 months of marriage. Luckett and her ex-husband, Rob Hillman, finalized their divorced back in August 2016, but was married in January 2016, and split in March. Hillman is an author, entrepreneur, and public speaker.

Luckett is also set to star as Dionne Warwick in the biopic about her life. “She is perfect and she has exactly the right look,” THR reported Warwick saying about Luckett playing her. “She will bring out what is needed for this part.”
