Kelly Rowland is a name known by millions across the world as a solo artist, but also being a part of one of the biggest girl groups of all time, Destiny’s Child.
In a recent interview with Vogue Australia, Rowland opened up about her mom’s passing, Destiny’s Child Coachella performance, being dropped from Sony and more. The interview was conducted by Alison Veness.
During the interview, Rowland stated that it has taken her 5 years to get back in the studio seriously, but she did record some music. She has 6 songs she loves, and wants 5 more, one being about her mother. Wile talking about music, the topic of Rowland being dropped from Sony came about, to which Rowland had the following to say about their statement towards her.
“and the terrible statement they made saying I was no longer … some bullshit … basically saying I had no more worth,” starts the except. “That was the hardest thing I think I ever went through, because I thought to myself, I sold so many records for you guys, with and without Destiny’s Child I sold records. Then I had a record (When Love Takes Over) with David Guetta that was number one in I don’t know how many countries and I was like, okay …”
It’s clear that Rowland has served millions with and without Destiny’sChild, but when I went to RIAA certification, only 3 solo works could be found. This shows the lack of support she truly had from Sony.
