K. Michelle Speaks On Learning Artistry And Being Around R. Kelly, Recalls Telling Him: “You Walk With A Book And You Can’t Read” (Video)

K. Michelle has mastered speaking her truth, and mixing a little shade in the process. Through her process, she has remained her true, authentic self.

In Michelle’s episode of “UNCENSORED” on TVone, she spoke on many topics ranging from Idris Elba, to the abuse she suffered from Memphitz, to discovering she was pregnant her senior year. Michelle opened up a lot, and gave the most in-depth interview to date. However, one thing truly stuck out. Her relationship with R. Kelly.

“Regardless of what you say about Robert Kelly, he is a genius. He is absolutelyphenominal in what he does. I learned how to write, I learned how to record, I learned that in 3 minutes and 30 seconds you have to paint the picture and tell the whole story, so every word counts”

Michelle stated that Kelly saved her from the abuse she suffered from Memphitz. “Jive was trying to figure me out, and they knew that something was going on with the Memphitz situation.” saying that Kelly was the one who took her under his wing, essentially trying to help her and protect her. Michelle also goes into details about living with Kelly, working on her music.

“Being in that house offered its own set of dysfunctional issues for me. I remember once again, feeling trapped. If I leave this house, I’m never gonna sing. The only reason I am on this label now is because R. Kelly said ‘this is a female me.’ So, I’m having to stay there, I don’t see my family, I don’t see anybody, but R. Kelly. “
