Jazmine Sullivan has officially become a Grammy-award-winning artist, winning two Grammys during the 2022 celebration.
Sullivan won the Grammy for best R&B album for “Heaux Tales” and R&B performance for “Pick Up Your Feelings,” in a tie with Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open.”
During her acceptance speech for best R&B album, Sullivan said that Heaux Tales was created as “a safe space for Black women to tell their stories, for us to learn from each other, laugh with each other, and not be exploited.”
Sullivan has been nominated before and backstage after her win, she called it “surreal” and said that it’s something she has wanted as a kid but “kind of gave up” after losing multiple times before.
Sullivan has been nominated for 15 Grammys in total throughout her career.
