Lopez opened up about dealing with the double standards in the entertainment business, and being a women in general. “It has taken time,” she says, “but I think we’re in a very powerful moment where women are going, ‘Wait a minute. We’re not afraid to say what we deserve.’ ”
Lopez continues to speak on the expectations placed on people, especially women, in the entertainment business. “I don’t understand why you can’t be an actress and a singer and dancer as well. Like, that’s how this whole business started. Entertainment! And why can’t you be funny and also be a dramatic actress? OK, some people can’t do both. But if they can, let them!”
Lopez has built her career being multifaceted, being a singer, dancer, actor, a judge, and for in the past 10 years, a mom. Regardless of how you feel, Lopez is one of the modern day trailblazers for being a diverse woman in the entertainment business. Times have changed, and she was one of the faces in the forefront.
“When I first started,” she says, “it was always a matter of ‘Am I good? Am I good enough? Do I need to be better? What can I do to be better?’ Now I know I’m really good at this. So I just want to do it.”
